What is the difference between PET material and PC material?

1. Properties:

PET: polyethylene terephthalate, English name: polyethylene terephthalate, or PET.PC: Polycarbonate, PC for short, is a colorless transparent and non-qualitative thermoplastic material.It has the appearance of glass, no smell, tasteless, non-toxic, flammable, yellow flame with blue edge when burning, good air tightness.

PC(polycarbonate) : is colorless transparent, clean and beautiful plastic.PC is an ideal food packaging material because of its non-toxic and odor-free properties, good performance in preventing ultraviolet rays from penetrating, moisture-proof and fragrance-preserving, wide range of temperature resistance, no cracking at -180℃, and long-term use at 130℃.

2. Application:

PET sheet has excellent characteristics (heat resistance, chemical resistance.Strong toughness, electrical insulation, safety, etc.), the price is cheap, so widely used to do fiber, film, engineering plastics, polyester bottles, etc.PC polycarbonate is acid and oil resistant.But not ultraviolet light, not strong alkali.

PC: with the characteristics of good impact resistance and easy molding, it can be made into bottles, cans and containers of various forms, used for packaging liquid substances such as beverage, wine and milk.

The biggest disadvantage of PC is that it produces stress cracking.In addition to the selection of high-purity raw materials and strict control of various processing conditions, the adoption of resin modification with low internal stress, such as a small amount of polyolefin, nylon, polyester and other melting blends, can significantly improve the stress cracking resistance, water resistance.

3. From the perspective of characteristics and usefulness:

PET: small expansion coefficient, low molding shrinkage rate, only 0.2%, is one tenth of polyolefin, smaller than PVC and nylon, so the size of products is stable.The mechanical strength is the best, its expansion is similar to aluminum, film strength is 9 times of polyethylene, polycarbonate and nylon 3 times, impact strength is the general film 3 to 5 times.

And its film has moistureproof and keep sweet property again.Although polyester has the above advantages, but its film price is more expensive, heat sealing difficult, easy to take static electricity, so it is rarely used alone, most of the resin coating with better heat sealing made of composite film
